Monroe Girls Corps reunite for Christmas parade

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, Ga. -

Once upon a time, they showed Georgians that girls can do what boys can. The Monroe Girls Corps was started in 1949 as an all-girl marching band made up of Monroe area students.

They played everywhere from high school games to Carnegie Hall. Now, more than six decades after forming, the girls are getting back together again. And it's just in time for the 60th annual Downtown Monroe Christmas Parade.

The Parade is Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. and will travel down Broad Street going from south to north.
