Duluth judge's email hacked

Posted: Updated:
DULUTH, Ga. -

A Duluth, Ga. judge and attorney has become the victim of hackers who used his email address to solicit money.

Associate Municipal Judge Claude Mason wants to warn the public about the scam.

Mason said he began receiving calls on Wednesday from friends and others alerting him to suspicious emails they received from his account.

The note indicated that Mason and his family were on vacation in the Philippines and were robbed overnight. It was sent to hundreds of people from Mason's contacts list. It goes on to say Mason desperately needs more than $2,600 wired to him immediately so he can get his family home.

Mason said he's fine and is really frustrated that con artists pull these stunts knowing they'll probably get away with it. He changed his password, which is what authorities suggest you do if your account is hacked.
