Wrigley Field plaza plan decision delayed

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Chicago Cubs have received the green light to play ball under the Wrigley Field lights a lot more next season.

The city council has approved a plan that allows the team to schedule 35-night home games each season.

An additional eight night home games can also be added to accommodate national TV broadcasts like ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

Last month, the team also asked the city council to allow them to sell beer and wine at a planned open-air plaza next to Wrigley.

No decision was made on that request.

Alderman Tom Tunney says Wrigleyville residents needed a chance to weigh in on the Cubs request first.
