Christian Bale in Out of the Furnace, American Hustle

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM - Actor Christian Bale's character in the new movie, Out of the Furnace, is living a rough life as a steel mill worker by day and the caretaker of his terminally ill father by night.

Things get worse for Bale when his brother returns from a tour of duty in Iraq.

“He makes the right decisions but through helping his younger brother… he finds himself in the wrong situation and he has to pay a price for that. So many people could relate to endlessly doing the right thing and not getting anything back," said Bale.  There is a darkness in what occurs to these people but I find it to be an uplifting story because of how they deal with their problems.”

'Out of the Furnace' is in theaters on Friday.

Also on the calendar for the former Batman star, a new movie opening next month with Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper.

In 'American Hustle,' Bale put on a significant amount of weight.

“I like to become obsessed with what I do,” said Bale.
