Ga. man charged with stalking after Iron Bowl call

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A western Georgia man who called his ex-girlfriend from jail to talk about the Iron Bowl game has been charged with stalking.

The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus (http://bit.ly/1bKoWDO ) reports 48-year-old Michael Marshall's 51-year-old girlfriend filed a yearlong restraining order against him after he was arrested for a DUI and other traffic violations earlier this month.

Marshall appeared in Muscogee County Recorder's Court Thursday and said he thought the call last Saturday would be a nice gesture.

Marshall told the court, he "just called to say War Eagle. It was an incredible game."

The judge set Marshall's bond at $5,000.
