Gleaners 'Double Your Donation Day' happens Monday

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Hunger doesn't have a face: your neighbor, a coworker, your child's classmate, or a family-friend could be facing a constant battle to find their next meal. That's why FOX 2 and Gleaners Community Food Bank, the largest provider of emergency food in the state, are aiming to make it a Hunger-Free Holiday.

Double Your Donation Day, on Monday, Dec. 16, is the day that all monetary donations made to Gleaners Community Food Bank will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Meaning, every $1 that is donated on that day will provide 6 meals instead of 3, to help feed hungry people in the community.

Your generous gift matched by Gleaners' Board of Directors and other generous donors will help make this a hunger-free holiday for kids!

Double Your Donation Day also supports school-based mobile pantry programs, which serves 9,000 families each month, providing them with fresh produce, protein and pantry staples

Gleaners needs your help! By donating on Double Your Donation Day, you can help make this a Hunger-free Holiday for kids and thousands of families in the community. Every dollar counts.

To donate, call 1-855-315-FOOD, or visit www.gcfb.org.
