Ga. man pleads guilty in '11 dragging death

Posted: Updated:

THOMSON, Ga. (AP) - A McDuffie County man has pleaded guilty in the 2011 slaying of his ex-wife who was dragged several miles after being shot.

The Augusta Chronicle reports 45-year-old Ricky Charles Wells of Dearing was immediately sentenced Friday to two consecutive life terms in prison.

Court officials say Wells could be eligible for parole in 60 years. Prosecutors were not seeking the death penalty.

Authorities say 36-year-old Jennifer Kitchens Wells of Gibson was shot several times and dragged behind a vehicle for several miles.
