Donations pour in to Westford family after fire destroys home

Posted: Updated:

WESTFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Westford family has received an outpouring of support from businesses and residents in the town and surrounding communities after their house was destroyed in a fire on Friday.

The four-alarm fire broke out early Friday afternoon at 40 Beaverbrook Rd., where the Daily family lived. No one was home at the time and firefighters deemed the two-story house a total loss. No firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

A cause for the fire has not been determined, though the Westford Fire Department and State Fire Marshal's office are investigating.

In the time since the fire occurred, a number of donations came in to fire stations across the town for the Daily family, filling ambulances with clothing and other necessities. Donations are being accepted at the three fire stations. CVS locations in Westford and Littleton have donated toiletries for the family and set up boxes to collect donations, which will then be brought to the Westford Fire Department.

Pictures of the donations were posted on the fire department's Facebook page, stating, "This here is what community is all about."

For monetary donations, the Northern Bank branch in Westford set up an account under the name "Daily Family Fund," and a GoFundMe page was also created online.

The family, who has three children ages 16, 12 and 9, has been put up in a local hotel buy the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts. Toys for Tots offered to donate toys to the children, according to the Westford Fire Department.
