ABINGTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The town of Abington released procession plans Monday for a U.S. Marine sergeant who died last week while serving overseas.

Abington police expect Sgt. Daniel Vasselian's body to arrive in the town between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. They are asking residents to line the streets to honor Vasselian.

Those who would like to hold a flag while the procession passes can pick one up at the Abington fire or police departments.

Residents are asked to try to park on streets off of the procession route.

Here is the planned procession route released by Abington police:

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. at St. Bridget Church in Abington followed by burial at Mount Vernon Cemetery.

In a letter to parents, the Abington schools superintendent wrote that both Abington High School and Frolio Middle School students will be allowed to stand on the funeral procession route on Thursday near the middle school if they want. Students and staff participating will be provided with American flags. Vasselian was a 2004 graduate of Abington High School.

Governor Patrick has ordered flags on state buildings to be lowered to half-staff on Thursday from sunrise to sunset.

Vasselian had just celebrated his fourth wedding anniversary on Dec. 19. A friend of his wife set up a GoFundMe page for the family. If you'd like to donate, visit: http://www.gofundme.com/5x9630
