2 people injured, truck catches fire in Northwest Indiana crash
HOBART, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
All lanes of Interstate 65 are open to traffic hours after a fiery crash involving three semis in Northwest Indiana shut down traffic and left two people injured.
The three trucks crashed while northbound on I-65 near Ridge Road in Hobart around 3:24 a.m., Indiana State Police said. A driver and passenger in one of the trucks were transported to an area hospital, but details on their conditions were not immediately known.
About an hour and a half after the crash, as fire crews were still clearing the vehicles, one of the trucks burst into flames, police said.
The flames continued to reignite through the morning as police tried to clear the scene, police said.
All lanes on the interstate were reopened as of 10:40 a.m., police said.
