NASHUA, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Lawrence male was arrested this week after allegedly beating his girlfriend's 10-month-old son with a tablet.
Enrique Santiago, 20, was arrested in Lawrence after allegedly beating his girlfriend's son while she was at work, officials say. Santiago was watching the 10-month-old the day after Christmas, when at some point during the day he put a tablet in a pillow-case and hit the boy in the face with it. The boy's mother brought him to the hospital, where she found that he had suffered bleeding on the brain, brain swelling, retinal bleeding, fractured ribs and leg and arm fractures.
The boy is in stable, but critical condition. He may suffer permanent disabilities as a result.
Santiago also allegedly repeatedly abused the boy for eight weeks. He is accused of grabbing, shaking, squeezing, striking and slamming the infant causing multiple injuries.
