DERRY, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Three teenagers were hurt in a single-car crash on New Year's Eve, two of them transported to Boston-area hospitals for life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The car, carrying two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old, crashed into a tree near Gulf Road and Hampshire Drive, trapping two of the three teens in the car, according to the Union-Leader.

Derry fire officials confirmed that 17-year-old Derry resident Kyle Ross was driving the car, and taken to Mass. General Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Ross' 16-year-old passenger, Johanna Morse, also of Derry, was taken to Tufts Medical Center in Boston to be treated for life-threatening injuries as well.

The car's second passenger, 16-year-old Thompson Upham-Davis of Chester, N.H., was taken to nearby Parkland Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Police and fire officials are investigating the accident. According to the article in the Union Leader, the car was driving "at a high rate of speed."

The family of Johanna Morse released a statement on Thursday.

"JoJo is doing better today than she was yesterday. We look forward to constant, positive progress in her recovery," the statement said. "We thank you for respecting our privacy and please continue to send good thoughts and prayers her way"
