Man arrested in connection with Seacoast lottery ticket thefts

Posted: Updated:

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A man was arrested in connection with the theft of lottery tickets on the Seacoast.

Several lottery ticket thefts have been reported in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire. One of those thefts was reported on Dec. 27 at the Big Apple Store on Lafayette Road. A male suspect fled with $400 in lottery tickets. He then cashed in those tickets at a Market Basket in the area, according to police.

On Dec. 31, a Market Basket employee reported that he saw the suspect and provided a description of the person and the car he was driving. After receiving the call, an officer saw a vehicle and driver that matched the description of the suspect. After being pulled over, the suspect provided a false name to police and pretended that he did not have a driver's license.

After an investigation, the suspect was identified as Nathaniel Glavin, 34, of Saco, Maine. He was arrested on charges of operating after suspension and disobeying a police officer for providing a false name.

A subsequent investigation provided probable cause to also charge Glavin with one count of theft, class A misdemeanor. Glavin was held on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned on Jan. 2.

This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Portsmouth Police at 603-610-7625 or Crime Stoppers at 603-431-1199.
