One Fund still accepting donations, plans second distribution

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The One Fund, a charity set up after the Boston Marathon bombings to help those injured and most impacted by the attack, announced Thursday that it will orchestrate a second distribution in 2014.

The fund collected approximately $61 million in the first 90 days it was operational, and distributed all of that money to more than 230 people injured.

By the end of 2013, the One Fund received more than $12 million in new donations. More donations are expected in 2014, especially as the first anniversary of the bombings approaches.

The One Fund Board of Directors met recently and discussed another distribution to victims in early July.

Additionally, the Boston Athletic Association, the organization that organizes the Boston Marathon, gave the One Fund 50 charity bibs to put together a marathon team for 2014.

The One Fund Marathon Team is accepting runner applications until Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. Those who wish to apply can do so by visiting OneFundBoston.org.
