Trial for Burbine, charged with sexually abusing children could begin in May

WOBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- John Burbine, the Wakefield man who is charged with sexually abusing numerous children, could stand trial beginning in early May.
Burbine appeared Monday in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn for a status hearing. According to Wakefield Patch, The judge approved the defense's motion to hire Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist who has appeared on national television, to assess Burbine. The assessment would cost $7,500.
Burbine, a Level 1 sex offender who was arrested in late 2012 for sexually abusing 14 children, including an 8-day-old infant. Burbine's wife ran an unlicensed day care business and is facing separate charges.
A pretrial court date was set for April 17, and jury selection could begin May 1.
