Super Bowl tickets: pricey and hard to get

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) - MetLife Stadium has slightly more than 80,000 seats. If you have the extra cash and want to see the biggest game in America played in person now is a good time to make your move.

Ticket brokers like Tom Patania with SelectATicket.com are going into high gear with Super Bowl 48 less than a month away.

A ticket in the lower level along the sideline will cost $5,500 with upper level tickets starting at $3,500. The reason tickets are two to three time higher than face value is simple: market demand. Patania said his company works with ticket marketplaces like StubHub to maximize profit.

SelectATicket.com also has Super Bowl packages which include tickets to the game along with hotel and transportation starting at $5,000.

Meantime, a fan in New Brunswick who purchased Super Bowl tickets has filed a class action lawsuit against the NFL claiming that he paid too much for his tickets and that the league didn't distribute enough tickets to the public to give them a chance to attend the game.

The NFL said it is reviewing the lawsuit.

A 16-foot-long exotic snake reportedly slithering around New Jersey's largest lake is apparently a suburban legend. Or the snake just isn't hungry. The state has stopped looking for the reptile after scientists failed to find any evidence of it in Lake Hopatcong and traps baited with chicken were left untouched. Three unconfirmed sightings this month of a snake, perhaps an anaconda as long as 16 feet, raised concerns among visitors and swimmers.
