Abby Hernandez, Scott Leger: The latest on 2 missing person cases

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Lately, there have been more of these cases of missing people. Each case is unique, but the bottom line is, there are families at home who are desperate to find them.

Abby Hernandez

It was three months ago Thursday that New Hampshire teenager Abigail Hernandez disappeared from North Conway.

She was last seen just outside her school, walking along a power line trail. She texted for about a half hour after the last sighting, and then completely disappeared. Early last month, law enforcement officials revealed the teen sent her mother a letter at the end of October. That raised hope that she might be home for Christmas. That did not happen.

FOX 25 Reporter Bob Ward spoke to Zenya Hernandez, Abby's mother Thursday. She says she is devastated, and extremely worried. She fully expected that her daughter would be home by now.

Ward spoke to the FBI, they too are very concerned for the teen's safety. Abby Hernandez disappeared with just the clothes on her back, and with no money. No one knows who she might be with now, or how she is being supported. The concern is that someone may be exploiting this 15-year-old girl.

Zenya Hernandez told Ward, she wants her daughter to know that she loves her. And wants to hear her voice. She is hoping Abby will call her.

If you know anything about what happened to Abby Hernandez, call your local police department.

Scott Leger

Now to a case you may not have heard about: the case of 41-year-old Scott Leger. He was most recently living in Athol, and he disappeared on Dec. 7. He has been missing for more than a month.

Ward spoke to his girlfriend Thursday. She said the two of them had an argument, and he left the house. Police have conducted searches in nearby woods, involving tracking dogs, and they didn't find him.

Leger's girlfriend said his family and friends have all been out looking for him, and nothing. They are all very worried.

It is not a crime for an adult to disappear, but Leger has a lot of people looking for him, in fact, they are holding a vigil for him Sunday night.

Call your local police department if you've seen him.
