DPS: 30 schools dismissed early Friday due to power, heat loss

DPS officials say a number of schools were dismissed early Friday due to a loss of power and heat.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Mrozowski says due to a major loss of power from the Detroit Public Lighting Department a number of schools have lost power and heat.

"As a result, classes are being dismissed early for those schools. High schools will be dismissed immediately. Students at all remaining schools will be dismissed after their parents/guardians are notified. Students riding busses will also not be released until a parent or guardian has been contacted," said Mrozowski in a statement.
