Possible sighting of missing Fitchburg girl in Maine

KITTERY, Maine (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police have reported a possible sighting of the missing Fitchburg girl and her non-custodial mother in Kittery, Maine.

Both Alize Whipple, 6, and her non-custodial mother, Leeanna Wilson, 50, were reportedly seen on Thursday and Friday at retail establishments in Kittery, according to Kittery Police's Facebook page.

Massachusetts State Police issued an amber alert for the abduction of Whipple Friday evening. The six year old from Fitchburg is described as a black female who is approximately 3'9" tall. She weighs about 45 pounds and has dark hair, officials say. Whipple was last seen wearing a pink shirt, pink petite pants and pink sparkly shoes.

The young girl was last seen on Wednesday, Jan. 8 around 4 p.m. on Normandy Street in Fitchburg.

Police believe that Whipple was abducted by her Wilson, who is also from Fitchburg. Wilson is described as a white female with strawberry blonde hair who is approximately 5'5" tall and weighs 135 pounds. Police say there is reason to believe Wilson may cause harm to the child.

Wilson was operating a blue 1996 Buick Century, but law enforcement officials located the vehicle Friday night in Leominster.

Neighbors say that DCF was involved with the family and believe that Wilson only fled with Whipple because she feared that the 6 year old would be taken away from her.

Wilson's neighbor Ruth Allende said, "If she's with mom, she's safe. She loves her daughter and if she took off she was probably scared they were gonna take her baby away."

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Kittery Police at 207-439-1638 or Fitchburg Police at 978-345-9648.
