NEW YORK (AP) - Three New York City firefighters and four other people were injured from a 6-alarm fire in a bank that was still smoldering long after it was first reported.

A fire department spokesman said the fire broke out in the basement of a Citibank in Manhattan's Morningside Heights neighborhood about 5:20 a.m. Saturday. By midnight, it was still smoldering.

The spokesman said nearly 200 firefighters from 40 units battled the blaze in the two-story building on Broadway and West 111th Street.

He said three firefighters were taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center with minor injuries. He said three other people were treated on the scene and refused further treatment. A fourth suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to the hospital.
