Officials: Missing R.I. boy may be in danger

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Investigators believe a missing 6-year-old Rhode Island boy and his mother are in danger due to his mother's medical history.

During a press conference Thursday, Rhode Island officials said Daniel Britt's mother has family in Washington state and police are speaking with his grandfather.

Earlier in the day, officials announced they are looking for a second vehicle connected to Britt's disappearance. The vehicle is described as a gray 1992 Chevrolet Astro van with Washington state registration ABR1512.

Daniel Britt was reported missing Tuesday. He was last seen with his mother Andria, and authorities said the pair may be heading to Washington state, a violation of a family court order.

Daniel, who is described as a white boy with blue eyes and brown hair, was last seen Jan. 8 when Andria ignored a court date to return the boy to his father, who now has sole custody of Daniel. A family court judge ordered that there is an immediate risk of harm to the boy and mother Wednesday.

Andria Britt was last seen driving 2004 red Ford sedan with a Rhode Island license plate number 942-649.

Daniel is 4'3" tall and weighs about 50 pounds. Andria is described as a 34-year-old with brown hair and blue eyes, approximately 5'5" tall, weighing around 135 pounds.

"It's a parent's worst nightmare. I just, I want my son home. I'm worried sick. I can't sleep, I can't eat," the boy's father said.

Waltham police tweeted around 6 p.m. Wednesday that a cell phone connected to the pair was pinged in the Newton area. However, police say that this lead was a false alarm.

Anyone who has seen the boy or the mother is asked to call Rhode Island State Police at 401-444-1000.
