(FOX 11/ CNS) - Former NFL safety Darren Sharper, a member of the
league's 2000s All-Decade Team and a five-time Pro Bowl selection, was facing
rape charges today, the sheriff's department announced.

Sharper, 38, has been linked to two sexual assaults in the West Los

authorities said.

Sharper was arrested at 3 p.m. Friday by the Los Angeles Police
Department's Robbery-Homicide Division, according to the Los Angeles County
Sheriff's Inmate Information Center.

The Miami Beach, FL., resident later posted $200,000 bail and was
released at 11:56 p.m. Friday. He was due in Los Angeles County Superior
Court's Division 30 on Feb. 14.

The entertainment news website TMZ.com reported the NFL Network
suspended Sharper immediately and without pay late Friday from his role as an
analyst.

Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers in 1997-2004, the Minnesota
Vikings in 2005-2008 and New Orleans Saints in 2009-2010. Sharper was part of
