LANSING, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Chicago man who was arrested and charged with armed robbery Friday after two men robbed a south suburban grocery store at gunpoint Thursday is being held on a $350,000 bond.

Police responded to an alarm about 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Mitchell's Foods at 18202 Torrence Ave. in Lansing. The clerk told officers two men -- one of them armed with a handgun -- entered the store and demanded money from the register, according to a statement from the Village of Lansing.

David Walker, 22, of Chicago, was arrested and charged Friday with two counts of armed robbery in connection to the incident, police said.

No shots were fired during the robbery, but the clerk was struck in the head when the suspects tried to force him to open a locked back room, the statement said.

The clerk was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the statement said.

The suspects -- one of which police later identified as Walker -- were last seen running out of the store, the statement said. It is unknown how much money was stolen.

Walker was ordered held on a $350,000 bond Sunday and will next appear in court Wednesday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call Lansing police at (708) 895-7150.
