Free Shuttle to Dodger Stadium Hockey Game

(FOX 11/ CNS) - Free shuttle bus service will be available from Union Station to Dodger Stadium for Saturday's Los Angeles Kings-Anaheim Ducks game, Metro announced Tuesday.

Dodger Stadium Express buses will leave from the Patsaouras Bus Plaza adjacent to the east portal of Union Station every 10 minutes beginning at 5 p.m. The bus travels along Cesar Chavez Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, with a dedicated lane from Figueroa Street to Elysian Park Avenue.

Passengers are dropped off in the Dodger Stadium parking lot behind left-center field.

Service from Dodger Stadium to Union Station will continue until 90 minutes after the game.

Fans coming to the game from Orange County are being encouraged to take Amtrak or Metrolink trains.

The return trip to Orange County is only available aboard Amtrak 796, which is scheduled to leave Union Station at 10:10 p.m. Amtrak will hold the train up to 45 minutes if the game goes into overtime.

Fans taking Metrolink to Union Station need to purchase a separate Amtrak ticket for the return trip from the ticket vending machine.

Fans driving to the game are being encouraged to purchase their parking pass in advance online at to assist the traffic flow. Parking is $35 and $50 for premium parking and $20 for general parking.Parking gates will open at 3:30 p.m.

Fans are also encouraged to rideshare, carpool and "examine all alternative transportation methods to do their part in reducing the traffic flow at Dodger Stadium," said Don Renzulli, NHL Executive vice president of

events.An outdoor hockey and entertainment festival will be held in Dodger Stadium's Lot 4 from 3:30-6:30 p.m., with live musical performances, interactive hockey-themed attractions, prizes and giveaways, food and beverages.

Pregame festivities will begin at 6:55 p.m. with a performance by the rock band KISS, followed by the introduction of the starting lineups. Jordin Sparks, the 2007 "American Idol" champion, will sing the national anthem.

A limited number of tickets remain for the first outdoor regular-season NHL game played in the United States west of the Mississippi River and the southern-most NHL outdoor regular-season game ever.

A sellout crowd of 55,000 is expected.
