Driver in fatal ambulance crash cited for motor vehicle homicide, other charges

Posted: Updated:

MILFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A driver from Framingham accused of running a stop sign and hitting an ambulance in Milford will face charges in the fatal crash.

Milford police allege 61-year-old Lisa Zemack was traveling west near the intersection of Green Street and Route 140 just after 11 a.m. Tuesday when she crashed her Mercedes Benz into the right rear of the ambulance. The crash caused the ambulance to spin and roll over.

Investigators say the ambulance had the right of way and Zemack failed to stop at a stop sign.

Karen Scott, 58, of Upton, was a patient in the back of the ambulance when the crash occurred. Scott died from her injuries.

Two paramedics, identified as 35-year-old Keith Hodson and 40-year-old Matthew Kelly, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Milford Police Sgt. John Sanchioni said, "It was very tragic, very chaotic scene."

Zemack was cited for motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and driving to endanger, failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to grant the right of way at an intersection. Her arraignment date has not been set yet.
