Victim's mother holds vigil in cold case hit and run

MARIETTA, Ga. -

The family of a man killed in a Cobb County hit and run accident held a vigil at the scene of the accident on Friday morning.

It's the fifth anniversary of 23-year-old Charlie Jones' death. He was hit by a car near Piedmont Road and Rio Montana Dive in Marietta.

Jones was pronounced dead at 7:10 a.m. and his family gathered, at that time, this morning in hopes of keeping Jones' case alive.

Every January 24, Jones' mother, Sharon McCarter, writes him a letter. She'll read the letter at the vigil. McCarter says she hopes the vigil will trigger someone to come forward since the case has gone cold. She said an arrest wont make the pain go away but it will give her peace of mind.

Most people treat their dogs just like their children. However, when it comes to dog safety in the vehicle, many drivers are buckling the children up but not safely restraining their pets.
