FALL RIVER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mass. State Police worked to divert traffic around the scene of a tractor trailer rollover on Route 24 in Fall River Monday.

Police say a J.P. Noonan truck was transporting more than 11,000 gallons of gasoline when it crashed near President Avenue just after 7 a.m., causing the truck to catch fire.

A FOX 25 viewer sent in a photo at about 7:30 a.m. showing heavy smoke and fire coming from the scene. Video from SKYFOX taken just after 8 a.m. showed the truck fully engulfed in flames.

The driver, identified as Lisa M. Korch, 46, of Danielson, Conn.,  was transported to a Rhode Island hospital with injuries that are not considered life threatening.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed as fire crews worked to put out the flames. The southbound side of the road was reopened by 9:30 a.m. The right lane of Route 24 north remained closed late Monday morning.

All lanes of traffic were reopened by the evening commute, however Mass. State Police expected the Route 24 off ramp to President Avenue to remain closed into Monday night.

Fall River police helped State Police to divert traffic around the rollover. Officials with the Mass. Department of Environmental Protection joined emergency crews at the scene of the crash to determine the environmental impact of the blaze.

The crash remains under investigation by Mass. State Police.

According to federal records, trucks owned by J.P. Noonan Transportation were involved in 14 crashes over the past two years, one of which resulted in a fatality. The records do not share details of the crashes or any determination as to responsibility.
