Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

He tried unsuccessfully to rob a store and got his face all over the surveillance cameras. Philadelphia Police wants the public's help in identifying the robbery suspect in Tacony.

On January 8, 2014, at 4:24 am, according to police, the suspect entered a WAWA located at 6400 Torresdale Avenue. The employee was working the register when the suspect, dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt and black jacket, entered the store. He demanded cigarettes and money, according to police, and the employee complied. However, the employee couldn't get the cash register open, according to police, and that led to the suspect walking out of the store. At first he tries to calmly go, but very soon surveillance video captures the suspect fleeing at the top of his lungs north on Torresdale Avenue on foot.

Here is the suspect description, according to police and surveillance: White male, 30 years-of-age, 6'1″, blond hair, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket.

If you see this suspect, police say do not approach him. Instead, contact 911 immediately. To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
