CANTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Randolph man was charged with animal cruelty after a police officer found his dog in a box truck at night, without food or water.
Investigators say an officer was on a routine patrol just before 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 18 when they saw a white box truck with its cargo door partially open. He looked inside the truck and saw a large dog tied to an interior bar.
The officer was concerned for the dog, as it was 29 degrees outside. The dog did not have any food or water and was standing in his own urine.
The officer contacted the owner of the truck and after a short investigation found that the dog was tied to the inside of the truck every night. As a result, the 31-year-old owner was charged with cruelty to animals and the dog was removed from the situation.
