Docked cruise ship turned into the Bud Light Hotel

Posted: Updated:

We're not on a cruise, but we're on a cruise ship -- a very special one. It's called the Bud Light Hotel.

The brand new Norwegian Cruise Line's Getaway has taken on another name and design for Super Bowl weekend, based on the Bud Light brand, and having a really good time.

"We came up with this crazy idea of bringing a cruise ship in, docking it here at Pier 88 and turn it into the Bud Light Hotel," said David Daniels, the director of marketing for Bud Light.

We got a look inside a VIP stateroom. But don't look to book one of these online, you won't find it. They're reserved for 3,000 lucky contest winners, bud light employees, and other VIPs.

It is total luxury all the way, down to the tiniest details.

The real partying will be done next door on the deck of the Intrepid, which has been turned into the Bud Light Platinum Lounge. But it wasn't always smooth sailing setting it all up.

"The biggest challenge we've had here in New York is the weather," Daniels said.

Crews had to create a concert venue from scratch on a parking lot. The Bud Light event space stage will host stars ranging from Busta Rhymes to Foo Fighters over the weekend.

"We have over 300,000 square feet of event space," Daniels said. "Unprecedented, even for Bud Light."

If you get hungry, you can get something to eat at one of the 45 bars, lounges, and restaurants.
