Rams Returning To LA?

INGLEWOOD (CNS) - St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke purchased a 60-acre parking lot in Inglewood within the last month that could potentially be used for a stadium for the NFL team, it was reported today.

The lot located between the Forum and Hollywood Park had been owned by Walmart, but the retailer sold it after failing to get approval for a superstore, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Kroenke is married to Ann Walton Kroenke, a daughter of the late Walmart co-founder Bud Walton. Stan Kroenke is a former Walmart board member.

There was no immediate response to an email to the Rams seeking comment.

The Rams are able to move from St. Louis following the 2014 season. The purchase of the land could put additional pressure on St. Louis to make the improvements to the Edward Jones Dome the Rams are seeking.

The Los Angeles area has not had an NFL team since 1994. In 1995, the Los Angeles Rams, who played at Anaheim Stadium, moved to St. Louis and the Los Angeles Raiders returned to Oakland after playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum from 1982-1994.

"Doesn't even remember the flight," FBI spokesman Tom Simon in Honolulu told The Associated Press on Sunday night. "It's amazing he survived that."
