MONROE, Mich. (WJBK) -- Near whiteout conditions made for difficult travel conditions in Monroe county on Wednesday.

As a winter storm pushed through the area, visibilities were reduced to near zero around 8:30 a.m. By 9 a.m., visibility increased to 1/4 mile.

County officials are urging motorists to use caution and travel only if necessary. FOX 2's Robin Murdoch reports vehicles traveling along I-75 were forced to single lane use and traveling at speeds under 40 mph.

The storm is expected to move out of the area by noon leaving behind 3 to 6 inches it total.
