Sure, it's easy to think it. Of course, it's easy to say it. But now, it's official. With the Golden Globe for Best Comedy, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is officially… funny.
Good Day Chicago had the chance to sit down with the stars of the show the day after winning two Golden Globes – the show was voted Best Comedy and star Andy Samberg received the award for Best Actor in a Comedy.
The "Brooklyn" cast members were all pretty happy about the side effects of winning, especially Samberg, who said that a win means he finally gets someone to drive him around.
"I'm finally going to have a driver," the actor deadpanned. "It comes with the Globe. They don't tell you about that. It's like a rickshaw."
"Everybody loves a winner," Samberg's co-star Terry Crews said. "Let me tell you, the sun shines a little brighter today. Everywhere I [go], there's a little ‘Ah!' moment. The light goes on and they'd say, ‘You're on TV!' or ‘Wait a minute!' Everyone loves a winner. It's the American way."
But there might be some other perks to being in a show about men of authority. When asked playing a detective meant he might get the occasional pass from the law, Samberg said he certainly hopes so.
"But I can't make that kind of guarantee," Samberg joked." I would hope they (Chicago cops) enjoy the show. If, you know, they wanted to let it ride… But let's be honest. I'm not going to speed in Chicago!"
Speaking of Chicago, when asked if they ever thought there could be a spin-off episode of "Chicago Nine-Nine," Andre Braugher and Crews said absolutely not – not with this record-breaking cold.
"We can fake Chicago, but we're not going to Chicago," Braugher said. "You've got a polar vortex going on!"
Braugher did take a liking to the idea of a Chicago episode that takes place in the summer.
"Tell you what, we'll come in the summer," Braugher agreed. "We'll have a ‘lakefront' episode. We'll ride bicycles along Lake Shore Drive. I'll pitch it."
So while we wait on that pitch to make its way up the FOX ladder, be sure to tune into "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" every Tuesday night at 8:30 (CST), right here on FOX 32.
Hopefully we'll be seeing "Chicago Nine-Nine" in the future… or maybe not.
