(FOX 11/ CNS) The couple found shot dead at their home in San Juan Capistrano Sunday had a history of litigation and business complaints, according to news reports.

Businesses owned or co-owned by Bradford Hans Sachs, 57, and his former wife Andra Resa Sachs, 54, had been the focal point of lawsuits for almost 20 years, the Orange County Register reported, including one that went to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The couple, divorced but still living together, were found in a bed with gunshot wounds. Their 8-year-old adopted son was also shot and was paralyzed

as a result, CBS2 reported. Two teenage girls were present in the residence at the time of the shooting, but had not been harmed, according to NBC4.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department and Orange County Fire Authority said the victims were found inside their home in the 32000 block of Peppertree Bend in San Juan Capistrano around 2 a.m. Sunday.

The couple had extensive commercial and residential real estate holdings throughout the state and appeared to take their security seriously, CBS2 reported.

The broadcast quoted a commercial tenant, Ken Baum as being told by Bradford Sachs to deny any knowledge of them, if asked.

"The reason why is we own a lot of property and people are always trying to get us for something," Baum said he was told by Sachs.

The Register reported the couple filed for divorce in 1999 but continued to live together.

Businesses owned by the couple that had been sued including an Internet service provider, a car battery power conversion kit business, a property management company and an electric car facility, the Register reported.

Autopsy results for the couple were expected today.
