Phillies Sign Burnett, Hamels May Miss Start Of Season

CLEARWATER, Fla. -

There's lots of news coming out of the Phillies's Spring Training camp as pitchers and catchers report on Wednesday morning.

Starter Cole Hamels met with the media and said he may not be ready to start the season due to off-season biceps tendonitis that has him behind in his throwing schedule.

The Phillies tweeted a photo of the left-hander taking questions and quoted him as saying, "I wouldn't say Opening Day, but not too far beyond that. I'll be ready."

The team has also signed 37-year-old free-agent starter A.J. Burnett to a one-year deal, FOX 29's Howard Eskin tweeted.

Eskin will have a live report from Clearwater on the FOX 29 News at 5, 6 and 10.
