How to land a date in New York City

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Need some help in the dating department?

The typical lament of single New Yorkers is often that the Big Apple doesn't have a lot to take a bite from or, another prevailing opinion,  the 'good' men and women are taken.

Not so says dating consultant Daniel Packard and his wife, fellow relationship expert Lindsay Chrisler.

"It's not New York, it's you," says Packard.

With Valentine's Day, the most romantic day of the year upon us, the couple share their top three tips for finding a date:

1. Kill them with kindness: feminine warmth, love, generosity, men crave it on a deep level; this is an emotionally cold town, be that fireplace the man cozies up to for warmth

2. Find that glow: people love to be around people who feel good; don’t wait for the man to bring the joy; you find it first; make your smile wider; take a class, join a group, dance naked

3. Admit you want a man: there is that independent woman ‘I pay my bills thing.' maybe you don’t need a man, but admit you want one

Need a little more help?

Packard and Chrisler are offering a free, 90-minute dating consultation to Good Day New York viewers.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.  Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going. "It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made.
