Ex-Wayne Co. aide Tahir Kazmi sentenced for taking bribes

DETROIT (WJBK) -

A former Wayne County official will spend nearly the next 5 years in prison for accepting a bribes from a vendor.

Tahir Kazmi was sentenced Friday to 57 months in federal prison and fined $15,000.

Kazmi served as Robert Ficano's chief information officer until his resignation in 2012.

It was then that Kazmi admitted that he took around $70,000 worth of bribes that included cash and trips to Hawaii, Turkey and Florida from 2009 to 2011.
