Area hospitals treating ice-related injuries

Posted: Updated:

The ice may be thawing out, but hospitals are still busy treating ice-related injuries.

Atlanta Medical Center employees say they've been busy treating a variety of ice-related injuries in the aftermath of this week's winter storm.

Physicians say they've treated everything including broken bones, sprained wrists and ankles, head injuries, and ice-related injuries from car accidents.

Despite anticipating this would happen, Emergency Room physicians say it was still a very busy day.

Dr. Robin Lowman at Atlanta Medical Center says they've gone from an average of one patient per hour early in the week, to 15-20 patients an hour Friday.

They advise pedestrians and motorists to be vigilant of icy conditions.
