SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Almost 7 years ago FOX 2's Lee Thomas did a story about A 12-year-old boy named Lion King Conaway. Lee even took him to the stage production of "The Lion King" while it was in town.

So now, 7 years later, this young man appears to be  living up to his unique name. The 18-year-old defensive end from Southfield High School recently signed a letter of intent to play football at Eastern Michigan University on a full scholarship. His father even legally dropped his last name so it will say "Lion King" on his jersey during games.

His name may seem odd to many, but not for him. The Lion King says "It gives me a lot of notoriety. It's helps me talk to people easy, you know, it gives me a lot of confidence."
