Missing dog from NY lost in Florida

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A dog that was given a new lease on life after being rescued from a puppy mill has disappeared.

Nora, an eight-year-old Brittany, ran into the woods near a parking lot in Orlando, Florida last week and hasn't been seen since . Her owner, Denise Turgeon, brought Nora and her other dogs to Florida from Albany, New York for an extended winter vacation.

"We had only been here two days when we came to the park ... so our entire vacation has been spent trying to find her," Turgeon told FOX affiliate WOFL.

Turgeon added that she hadn't noticed Nora's leash had come undone from the harness when she was getting out of her car.

The dog's temperament is skittish and understandably so.  According to the Facebook page created by Turgeon, Nora was rescued from a puppy mill in Louisiana in 2013. She was one of dozens of dogs used for breeding purposes only.

The owner of the mill was found guilty of cruelty to animals.

Turgeon is not giving up hope on her pet, but her window for searching for Nora is narrowing. Turgeon plans on returning to Albany on March 7.

Word is getting out about the missing dog. WOFL has more than 2.5 million views on the story posted to its website.

When you hear about a place that still sells records, located in a hip neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn, you enter that store with certain expectations. One of them being: you hope the guy behind the counter talks about music the way Cory Fierman does."I think it's just like the most important thing to you," he says. "I don't know how to describe it.
