Troopers deliver subpoenas to Hernandez 'flophouse' neighbors

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – State troopers delivered subpoenas at an apartment complex in Franklin Tuesday where former Patriot Aaron Hernandez once rented.

A source told FOX 25 that troopers served several residents with orders to appear before a Bristol County Grand Jury. It is unclear as to whether this jury is the same one that indicted Hernandez back in August for the Odin Lloyd murder or a new one investigating another case involving the former Patriot.

A source said that as many as six residents at the Ledgewood Apartments in Franklin received subpoenas Tuesday. These are the same people investigators questioned in late June when they learned of the so called "flophouse" that Hernandez rented.

The football player was known to hang out at the apartment, and court documents suggest his right-hand man Ernest Wallace may have been living there. When cops searched the place over this past summer, they found boxes of ammo and a sweatshirt similar to the one Hernandez was seen wearing the night Lloyd was executed.

Grand jury proceedings are secret, so it is unclear why the panel wants to hear from the neighbors. Everything that has been reported so far would indicate the neighbors never saw anything out of the ordinary, except for occasionally seeing Hernandez coming and going.

If this is the grand jury that indicted Hernandez for the Lloyd murder, it would mean prosecutors are still trying to compile more on the information in that case.

It's always possible that another Bristol County Grand Jury could also be looking at Hernandez. Keep in mind, it's been widely reported that friends of Hernandez, including Miami Dolphins player Mike Pouncey, flew to Massachusetts in December due to a subpoena relating to Hernandez and gun trafficking, according to Sports Illustrated.
