Stoughton woman arrested after 75-year-old found malnourished, dehydrated

STOUGHTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Stoughton woman was arrested last Friday for what police describe as "one of the worst cases of elder abuse or neglect" that many of their officers had ever seen.

Sandra Lucien-Calixte was held on $25,000 bail on a charge of permitting serious injury to an elder.

Stoughton police began investigating after a 75-year-old woman was transported to the emergency room by Stoughton fire crews on Feb. 16 with low blood pressure.

A nurse told police the victim was dehydrated, malnourished, and had renal failure. She had dropped from 106 pounds in March 2013 to a recorded weight of 78 pounds. The victim also had such severe bed sores that bone was exposed, police say.

Stoughton police say the woman was left in a basement bedroom where the thermostat was off. They claim the temperature inside the room was 53 degrees.

Lucien-Calixte, who the police chief said was not related to the victim, told investigators she was a registered nurse. She also said a nurse came to the home to check on the victim three times a week, however she could not provide the nurse's name or phone number.
