Mail delivery refused along dangerous, icy Detroit sidewalks

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Snow and ice make it hard for letter carriers to make their delivery rounds, but residents living at the Village Square apartment complex in Detroit were given the ultimatum - no mail would be delivered to them until the ice and snow was cleared.

Some haven't received mail in a week.

"I have doctors that come up here, nurses, and they can't even get upstairs because of all the ice and everything," says resident Lillian Walls.

FOX 2's Robin Murdoch talked to a maintenance worker at the apartments. He says they are aware of the sidewalk issue and are working to take care of it as soon as possible. He also says they plan to waive the late fees for people who can't get their rent out on time because of issues with the mail.
