Colorado Horse Rescued After Being Trapped In Icy Pond

Posted: Updated:

Sonny, a 13-year-old horse, was tragically trapped in a partially frozen pond for over an hour before firefighters arrived to save her.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) reported on their Facebook page that they responded with multiple Special Operations Team members at 7am on March 2, 2014.

When the crews arrived on the scene, Sonny was already very tired from her hour-long efforts. Crews used a tarp to help her out of the freezing water.

LFRA reports that both the horse and the owner are doing well as of 2:30pm, March 2, 2014.
