Woman charged in Milford crash released on personal recognizance

MILFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 21-year-old mother accused of drunk driving in a crash that sent a van careening into a Milford quarry was released on personal recognizance bail Monday.

Elizabeth Facey is charged with operating under the influence and child endangerment. She was released under the conditions that she does not drive and does not drink alcohol.

Investigators say Facey's 3-year-old daughter was in the car when she was involved in a crash at the intersection of Route 16 and Beaver Street Saturday. Police accuse Facey of running a red light and hitting a van carrying four people. The van then went into a quarry and filled the water.

The van's passengers, one adult and three children, were able to get out with help from passersby. One young girl was seriously injured.

The crash required a "major response" from emergency services, and ultimately six people were sent to UMass Medical Center.

The mother of the adult victim told FOX 25 her daughter and three grandchildren are recovering.

The Department of Children and Families said it received a report of the accident and has taken custody of Facey's daughter.

Facey is due back in court next month.
