Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Blaze, Freezing Cold In Chester

CHESTER, Pa. -

A fire broke out overnight inside a home in Chester, Delaware County.

It happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday on the 2700 block of Price Street.

The fire went to two alarms before crews were able to get it under control.

Firefighters say the cold temperatures caused some problems.

"The only concern we had was icing and our water supply to make sure we had an adequate water supply and that our water supply didn't freeze up on us," Chester Fire Department Battalion Chief Charles Hopkins said.

Three people – a mother, father and son – got out of the home safely. Two nearby abandoned homes were also damaged.

There's no word yet on a cause.
