More Laced Heroin May Be Behind Overdoses, 2 Deaths In Suburbs

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -

Authorities are sounding the alarm about a more potent form of heroin popping up in our area.

Six overdoses in Bucks County within the last week may be linked to a version of the drug laced with other things such as a prescription pain killer.

County officials say two of those overdoses have resulted in deaths.

Law enforcement says this new batch of the drug is harder to trace.

"We're not 100 percent sure what's in the heroin," Bucks County Deputy District Attorney Daniel Sweeney said. "There has been some indications that it may be adulterated with certain substances, including possibly fentanyl. We don't know that to be the case with all the overdoses that have occurred here in Bucks County, but that's something we're looking into.:

Officials say heroin is an "end-of-the-line" drug, saying users have usually been strung out for awhile before overdosing.
