Taylor veteran gets new house, job and daughter's scholarship

TAYLOR, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Taylor Veterans Home Program and the Home Depot Foundation have provided a furnished, new home for a marine and his family.

Cameras were rolling as Christopher Holcomb, his wife, Darcy, and their daughter, Vada, were welcomed into the home Thursday.

Chris served five years in the marines, helping earthquake victims in Haiti and on the front lines in Afghanistan.

The group Helmets to Hardhats is also helping Chris start a new career as a carpenter.

Schoolcraft College is awarding the family a full scholarship for Vada when she graduates high school.
