Posted: Updated:

A 29-year-old woman reported missing in Center City on Thursday has been found dead by police.

At 6:30a.m., police were flagged down by a concerned citizen, who was on her way to work, when she spotted an unresponsive female lying on the ground in between two parked vehicles on the 1400 block of North 57th Street.  Medics were notified and pronounced the female at 6:34a.m.

Police identified 29-year-old Christina Sankey from the 1900 block of Ellsworth Street who was last seen with a care giver shopping at Macy's department store at 1300 Market St.

Sankey was autistic and did not have the ability to speak. She separated from her caregiver and wondered off in an unknown direction. The care giver alerted security and notified police.

Central Detectives responded and reviewed video surveillance from the store that shows complainant getting onto an escalator from the second floor to the first floor at 3:10pm, but is not seen on video again.

The cause of death is unknown, and the manner of death has yet to be determined.
