Fire destroys another Heidelberg house in Detroit

A fire has destroyed another house that's part of the Heidelberg Project interactive outdoor art installation in Detroit.

Arson investigator Lt. Joseph Crandall says crews responded at 3 a.m. Friday to the blaze that ultimately burned the house to the ground. It was known as the "Party Animal" house or "Doll House" because it was covered in stuffed animals and dolls.

No injuries were reported in the fire. An adjacent home was damaged.

This is the ninth suspicious fire reported since May. The "Clock House" caught fire last December. The "War Room" was burned down last Thanksgiving; "The Penny House" was torched a few days before that; the "House of Soul" was set on fire in mid November; and the "Obstruction of Justice House" was destroyed in October.

The art project draws tourists to Detroit from all over the country and the world.

Nobody has been arrested in connection to the fires that started in May 2013, but local and federal officials are investigating. Tyree Guyton founded the east-side project in 1986 as a response to urban decay. The interactive sculpture park mixes vacant houses and empty yards with artistic themes.

Efforts have been taking place to add more security at the Heidelberg Project.

Thirty-thousand dollars in reward money, mostly coming from a private donor, is still being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
